SoftMap and GPS |
| SoftMap CD-ROMs and DVDs (Version 5) include a GPS interface
software at no extra charge. With Garmin and Magellan GPS receivers you get real-time positioning so that you can see your location on the map on your computer screen. In addition, you can transfer tracks, routes and waypoints between your computer and your GPS. You can go out in the bush, mark a trail, and then come back home and load the trail from your GPS to your computer and it will appear on the SoftMap map on your computer screen. Equally, you can mark out a route at home using SoftMap and then transfer the route to your GPS for use outdoors. If you take your computer and GPS out with you, you'll have access to full navigational features including waypoints, routes, distance to go, course to steer, magnetic or true courses, speed, odometer, etc. Current location and track are shown on your computer screen. If you have a GPS that's not a Garmin or Magellan, you'll get real-time positioning. Unfortunately you won't be able to transfer routes and waypoints and will not have access to full navigational features. GPS units must conform to the NMEA 0182 v.2 output. Please Note: the maps or charts will not appear on the screen of your GPS. These software programs enable the user to interface routes and waypoints between the GPS and the PC. To interface Fugawi and Quo-Vadis CD-ROMs with a GPS Receiver requires additional navigational software. Please ask us if you have any questions by e-mail or by phone (1-888-433-3782). |
