Career Handbook, 2nd Edition |
| Note: Human Resources and Social Development Canada recommends that the second edition of the Career Handbook should be used in conjunction with the 2001 version of the National Occupational Classification (NOC). An updated edition of the Career Handbook is in preparation to reflect the 2006 NOC. This updated Career Handbook is expected to be available later this year. |
| Career Handbook, the
companion volume to the National Occupational
Classification, is an invaluable resource for career counsellors,
students and job seekers. Based on the NOC and Holland coding system, the
Career Handbook follows the organization and content of the 2001 edition
of the NOCs Occupational Descriptions and includes additional subgroups
for many of the NOC unit groups. Nearly 900 occupations are profiled in the
Career Handbook. These profiles describe the characteristics that are associated with an occupation, as well as the main attributes necessary to perform the work. Requirements are also expressed in terms of rating scales covering: aptitudes, interests, data/information, people and things (DPT), physical activities, environmental conditions and education/training. Two-volume print set, includes bilingual CD-ROM. |
