Description:

The Canada Labour Code: Quick Reference, 2008 Edition provides a concise description of the employer rights and requirements under the Canada Labour Code, making it a must-have tool for all human resource specialists, labour relations specialists, and employment/labour lawyers working in or for federally regulated organizations. Covering all three parts of the Canada Labour Code (Industrial Relations, Health & Safety and Employment Standards), this is the first consolidation of the Code ever published with a succinct commentary guide and complete index, to ensure you will always be able to find and understand the information you require.

New in the 2008 Edition:

With an experienced team of authors in Brett Christen, Sharon Chilcott and Jamie Knight, the 2008 edition has been brought up to date. • Effect of Certification – a clarification of the effect of certification
  • Sale of Business – a distinction made between a change of contractors and the sale of a business
  • Successive Contracts for Services – a discussion of the impact of section 47.3 on successive contracts for services
  • Obligations Related to Strikes and Lockouts – a clarification of the employer’s duty to prove which services are necessary during a work stoppage
  • Unjust Dismissal – a new case reference has been added
