| Helping you build your understanding of spoken
French. Language as Spoken Here: The first and most important priority of anyone learning a foreign language must be oral comprehension. The Comprendre series immerses users in spoken French. Users will benefit from a structured approach, and will receive seven hours of recordings, enabling them to hear the language as it is spoken in Canada. Characteristics of Spoken French: Comprendre 2 enables users to acquire listening skills and to become familiar with the characteristics of spoken French. One activity will require users to identify the theme of a dialogue right from the start (listening objective) and to identify pronouns and nouns evoking this theme (e.g. ça, en, affaire, patente). In the following activity, users may be asked to identify who the subject is, a task associated in linguistic terms with pronoun repetition (e.g. eux autres, ils). Comprendre 2 deals with various other features of the spoken language, including those associated with the negative (e.g. dropping the "ne") and with the interrogative (e.g. interrogative word moved to the end of the question). |
