Published by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, 2010.

This is an annual publication. The 2010 edition was released in June 2010. The next edition will be the 2012 edition, expected to be released in December 2011.

Description:

OECD Factbook 2010 is the sixth edition of a comprehensive and dynamic statistical annual from the OECD. More than 100 indicators cover a wide range of areas: population, economic production, foreign trade and investment, energy, labour force, information and communications, public finances, innovation, the environment, foreign aid, agriculture, taxation, education, health and quality of life.

Data are provided for all OECD member countries, including Canada, and for selected non-member economies. More countries than ever are covered in greater detail, enabling direct comparisons for many indicators between OECD Members and Brazil, China, India, Indonesia, Russian Federation and South Africa.

This year, the OECD Factbook features a focus chapter on the crisis and beyond.

OECD Factbook brings together in a single publication 100 indicators that are essential for evaluating the relative position of any OECD country, both at a given moment and over time, in the following fields:
  • Population and Migration
  • Production and Income
  • Globalisation
  • Prices
  • Energy
  • Labour
  • Science and Technology
  • Environment
  • Education
  • Public Finance
  • Quality of Life
  • Special Focus: The Crisis and Beyond
For each indicator, there is a two-page spread. A text page includes a short introduction followed by a detailed definition of the indicator, comments on comparability of the data, an assessment of long-term trends related to the indicator, and a list of references for further information on the indicator. The next page contains a table and a graph providing – at a glance – the key message conveyed by the data. A dynamic link (StatLink) is provided for each table directing the user to a web page where the corresponding data are available in Excel format.

OECD Factbook is a great reference for anyone interested to know "where we are" and "where we are going" in terms of social, economic and environmental development. It is at the same time user-friendly, comprehensive and reliable. This is a key reference tool for everyone working on economic and policy issues.
