Marine Environmental Assessment of the Estuary and Gulf of St. Lawrence is a report on the first assessment of the environmental conditions and human impacts in the Gulf and Estuary of the St. Lawrence completed under the Toxic Chemicals initiative of the Green Plan. The publication presents a clear picture of the state of knowledge of the marine environment of this unique ecosystem. The discussion is organized according to the physics, biology, fisheries and chemistry of the system. Important issues related to human-induced changes on the marine environment are identified along with recommendations to further our understanding. The text is supported by 47 colour illustrations and 19 tables and is written with the non-specialist audience in mind but also synthesis important information for the professional scientist.
