At Risk: A Socio-Economic Analysis of Health and Literacy Among Seniors 1994

At Risk demonstrates that the socio-economic environment remains an important determinant of health. Variables such as income and education continue to have direct and indirect effects on people's health status. The evidence presented here supports the existence of a relationship linking literacy and populations with high health risk among senior citizens. The findings are based on information from the 1994 International Adult Literacy Survey.
