|Social HR is an HR strategy that uses social media, from
Facebook to LinkedIn to YouTube to blogs, to enhance productivity within an
organization, build an organization's brand and attract top talent.
The goal of this book is to provide you with the insight to build a Social HR initiative for your organization, making use of current social networking sites but also being flexible enough to adapt to any future sites that spring up and become all the rage with online users.
For Social HR to truly be effective, you have to understand why you want to use social media and how it can help you fulfill your HR strategy, which should be tied to the organization's overall business strategy. Many corporations fail due to a lack of purpose and understanding of a particular social network.
But no Social HR strategy will work unless you first understand the principles of in-person networking. You have to listen to your end-users, whether they are potential candidates, employees or alumni. You need to find out what they want, what their pain points are, and how you can meet their needs. You need to provide that value in order to really harness the power of social media and succeed online.
