Electronic Commerce: Opportunities and Challenges for
Government examines how the explosion of technology has paved the way for
the emergence of electronic commerce. Conducted by a group of senior-level
executives from multinational firms, including American Express and the Bank of
Montreal, this study examines the implications of electronic commerce on the
global economy, consumer behaviour and the operations of business and
government. Strategic recommendations are addressed to governments with a view
to facilitating the development of electronic commerce and maximizing its
